Safe, fun classes
Lessons feel like play, so children stay curious and keep coming back.
Robokids Africa teaches children aged 6 to 16 robotics, coding and STEM through hands-on play, in public and private schools across Uganda.
Uganda is full of young people bursting with curiosity and creativity. To reach their potential, they need access to the tools and chances that shape a future.
Coding and robotics are more than building robots or writing code. They teach children to solve problems, think critically, adapt to change and create. Those skills matter in every field, from healthcare and farming to teaching and business.
Four things guide every lesson, in every school.
Lessons feel like play, so children stay curious and keep coming back.
Learners solve challenges together and learn to share ideas and roles.
Every idea gets built and tested, which grows creativity and critical thinking.
Each child learns at their own pace in a supportive space, whatever their background.
Children move up as they grow in confidence. Fast learners can move up sooner.
Ages 6 to 8
First steps with computers and STEM, spotting the code in everyday life, then building simple robot toys.
Ages 9 to 11
Computational thinking comes into every lesson, with basic electronics, engineering and block-based programming.
Ages 12 and up
More complex robots and electronics, with text-based programming in Python and programmable kits such as Arduino.
The Federation of Uganda Social Enterprises recognised Robokids Africa in the Education category for our work bringing robotics, coding and digital skills to children. It spurs us on to give every child in Uganda the chance to compete with their peers anywhere in the world.
Choose a project and give to it directly, or give where it is needed most.
Supported by Irish Aid, this project trains teachers to deliver robotics, coding and digital lessons themselves.
Support this projectWe take robotics kits and lessons into public schools, where many children have few chances to use a computer.
Support this projectOur holiday camps are where many children build their first robot. A sponsored place opens the door for a child whose family could not afford it.
Support this projectGive by mobile money or card in a minute. Organisations can give a grant the same way.
We work with organisations that share our belief in children and technology.
Robotics is the part of technology that covers designing, building, programming and using robots. For children it is a fun way into maths, science and problem-solving.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and maths, taught together rather than as separate subjects. With art added, it is often called STEAM.
Beginners start at 6 to 8, intermediate learners are 9 to 11, and advanced learners are 12 to 16. Children who pick things up quickly can move up sooner.
You choose: training teachers, robotics kits and lessons in public schools, holiday camp places, or wherever the need is greatest. Every gift gets an emailed receipt.
